Sauna and cold plunge
Al-Nara, the wood fired sauna smells of lush hardwood and overlooks beautiful views.
She helps you explore a free state where you literally sweat the small and the big stuff.
I found through the many Madhu sweet gatherings I have held and participated in, that a sauna and cold plunge in the morning prepares the body and the mind to be more present and more receptive to engage with the day ahead.
The sauna is fired and at temperature from 7am to 9am, giving you a window of two hours to choose your 30 mins session in a way that flows with your morning routine.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be served seated on one long table in the most delightful space in the school.
A large communal room in the main school building, once an assembly room is now adapted into a cosy gathering space with a log burner, hammock, records and books.
THE MENU:
- Vegan chia bowl with toasted coconut, passion fruit and smashed berries (vegan)
- Avocado on sourdough with truffle oil, and chilli flakes (vegan)
- Freshly baked chocolate croissants
- Freshly baked cinnamon rolls with sea salt caramel drizzle
- Fresh orange juice
- Tea selection
- Fresh ground coffee in a French press
Pilgrimage Tea Ceremony
The Old school borders St Michael’s pilgrimage path.
We will walk along it, through the fields into Eden valley, along the stream and into the fire pit in the heart of the woodland where we will brew ceremonial tea before returning to the school.
The walk is enchanting.
I have practiced, held, and guided ancestral rituals and tea ceremonies for decades. These Pujas and ceremonies, are informed by decades of study and practice of my own lineage: We are Badawī, pre-existing Arabic-speaking communities, and flavoured by my journey as both a devotee of the Sufi path (I studied from a young age with my father who is a seeker) and my studies of the Vedic tradition in Sanskrit. I am initiated as a Mistress of tea ceremony in my culture and a sacred sexuality priestess in the tantric tradition.
Al-Badawī yurt
The Bedouin Nomadic Mongolian yurt is the sacred shala, a temple space, where many sisters and brothers gathered to be alone, to connect with others and to resolve what needs to be unpacked.
She will embrace you and immerse you in warm rugs, incense and spices as you lay there looking at the stars or the breeze swaying trees through its crown wheel.
We will do the Mana Movement Play-shop in the yurt.
This is a type of embodied meditation practise that combines slow movement with breathwork and energy body meditation.
In this playshop, we explore different ways of connecting to the natural way the body wants to move, such as learning to follow the circular, linear and spiral articulations of our own limbs and starting to make consious the pathways that weave in and around the body.
Through this practice, we will connect to a graceful and joyous way of being, and embody a deeper level of authentic personal expression.
